Exactly one new demand
The verdict on every choice is withheld until the role play is over, and the conversation branches on what the learner picked. Judgement sharpens precisely because the comfort of instant confirmation is gone.

Still multiple choice
The format still shields the learner from the separate, heavier burden of phrasing. One new demand at a time. Never two. That is the rule, and it is never broken.

Branching is the curriculum
Pick a weaker option and you now stand in a conversation that is not going perfectly, and you must work out how to navigate back.

Losing means something
Real conversations rarely stay on the golden path, and the ability to recover cannot be taught by only ever showing the optimal line. Path exists to teach recovery, in a mode where losing is now possible.
